What is DuraDeck?

DuraDeck® access mats both protect your expensive turf and provide access and traction over sand, mud, and other difficult surfaces. DuraDeck access mats may be used to create temporary roadways for vehicles, trucks, and equipment or large work pads for drilling, administrative compounds, bone yards, temporary flooring, and other industrial applications.

DuraDeck is a unique molded plastic mat that is durable, lightweight, and extremely strong. Sections are engineered to provide ground protection and access over soft surfaces and will provide a firm support base and traction for numerous activities. DuraDeck sections can be carried by 1-2 persons and positioned easily as required on a job site. No tools are required for installation or removal.

Use DuraDeck to get heavy work equipment into a job site, while protecting the ground and your turf. DuraDeck virtually eliminates rutting, soil compaction, and other damage to sensitive grass and turf. It has been used to provide access for trailers up to 80 tons, over grassy fields and other soft surfaces. Traverse equipment easily over sand, mud, snow and grass surfaces, even on gently sloping areas. DuraDeck also protects the equipment from undue wear -- greatly reducing wear on drivelines and frames that are oftentimes stressed when operating on unstable and harsh ground conditions. You'll save on labor costs and increase worker safety by not having workers struggle with vehicles and equipment bogged down in mud or unstable ground conditions.

The manufacturer offers two unique and proven tread patterns -- a superior traction surface for industrial applications and a pedestrian-friendly tread pattern (available on one or both sides for pedestrian traffic).

DD1 - DOUBLE-SIDED RUGGED-TRACTION SURFACE

DD1 is the most popular DuraDeck product. It consists of a rugged traction design on both sides, suitable for heavy equipment usage in different conditions. The unique traction pattern prevents "spin out" in wet or slippery conditions.

Use DD1 on construction sites, drilling sites, landscaping projects, dredging sites, and anywhere a heavy-duty mat is required for access, ground protection, and equipment storage.

Standard DD1 mats are 4 ft. x 8 ft. long. Sections are 1/2" thick at the core - not including tread pattern height. DDI contains 4 connection holes, one at each corner, and 4 additional connection holes (2 each at the center of the 8 ft. side). These allow panels to be connected in either direction and to be rotated at 90-degree angles as required. DD1 mats are also available in 2 ft. x 8 ft. sizes.

Use DuraLink or PlastiLink™ connectors with DD1 panels to create contiguous and connected runs of material for roadways or work pads. DD1 can be stored on your own pallets or on their specialized metal pallets.

DD2 - RUGGED TRACTION SURFACE AND PEDESTRIAN-FRIENDLY SURFACE

DD2 is suitable for applications where pedestrians can be found, yet where a rugged tread design is or may at one point be desired. Each DD2 consists of a pedestrian-friendly, non-slip tread design on one side and their standard rugged-traction design on the other. Sections are reversible and can be used with either side face up. When facing up, the pedestrian-friendly surface still offers traction for vehicles and equipment, while the rugged down-facing side provides additional mat traction to the ground, preventing mat slippage or "spin out."

Use DD2 for parking areas, construction site walkways, concerts, and other uses where people are expected to walk on DuraDeck regularly.

The DD2 pedestrian-friendly surface is also perfect for protection of concrete, asphalt, stone, or aggregate surfaces - where the rugged pattern may be too aggressive and could potentially cause damage. The pedestrian-friendly design may be placed face down on such surfaces to provide protection.

DURAPAD™ OUTRIGGER PADS

The LIGHTEST and most DURABLE outrigger pad on the market!

The manufacturer's line of DuraPad Outrigger Pads was born of their experience using inferior competing pads in the field. Unlike other designs which suffer from exposure decay and messy handling, these pads are manufactured to aerial device manufacturers' standards! DuraPads last much longer and are easier to handle.

Superior Material and Design - DuraPad is manufactured from an industrial-grade plastic composite (UHMW) that is impervious to exposure. That means the material will not break down from prolonged use and will not absorb chemicals, oil, or moisture.

DuraPad Outrigger Pads are a lighter weight pad than other pads on the market. DuraPad is designed to have some flex to conform to ground contours without breaking or cracking. Once they are off the ground and not being used, they will return to their original shape.

DuraPad is the only outrigger pad with a multi-directional texture on the surface - which eliminates the slippery surface when covered with snow or water.

Eliminates Mess - DuraPad Outrigger Pads are designed to raise up when a pad is being pressed into sloppy ground - so you don't have to "get in the mud" to pick them up. Plus it's a simple matter to hose them off to restore them to like-new condition.

Superior Handle Design - Handles are bolted in a position which keeps them clear of the outrigger foot and provides protection from wear.

The wire rope handle is made of aircraft-grade steel and bolted to the pad to provide a durable and long-lasting solution for the problem of handles that either fray or break over time.

DURADECK ACCESSORIES

CONNECTOR LINKS - The manufacturer offers 4 different connection systems to meet your specific needs. They offer 2- and 4-way metal links, depending on your needs.

DURALINK METAL LINKS - DuraDeck metal links are formed using 3/4" x 1/4" flat steel and are available in 2- and 4-way versions to connect either 2 mats together end-to-end or 4 mats together at an intersection. Large continuous roadways can be created easily for work pad extensions or turning areas can be added of any size. Use Duralink for heavy-duty loads and for long-term projects or uneven or softer ground surfaces.

PLASTILINK PLASTIC LINKS - PlastiLink plastic links are injection molded in nylon for added strength and allow sections to be connected quickly for lower weight requirement applications. They are available in 2- and 4-way versions to connect 2 mats or 4 mats to each other as required. PlastiLinks will not rust or corrode and can be used continuously in wet areas. Use PlastiLinks for lighter loads on more firm sub-surfaces.

DURAHOOK DRAG HOOKS - To speed the installation of DuraDeck, the manufacturer recommends their DuraHook™ drag hook. This accessory can be inserted into pre-molded connector holes on each panel, allowing sections to be easily dragged into position.

HOLE PLUGS™ - The manufacturer offers molded plastic Hole Plugs to fill unused connector holes for special events and other pedestrian access applications. Hole Plugs eliminate potential tripping hazards - especially when mats are down for upscale events - Hole Plugs will prevent women's high heels from getting caught in the holes.

METAL DURAPALLETS™ - The manufacturer offers extra large metal pallets for the easy transport of DuraDeck mats. Simply band sections to the DuraPallet for easy forklift handling, loading and unloading, and storage. Each DuraPallet is constructed from 1.25" square-tube metal and can hold up to 50 DuraDeck sheets.

DURADECK FEATURES

DURABLE PLASTIC CONSTRUCTION - Each 86-pound DuraDeck sheet is molded using a specially formulated high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that makes the product extraordinarily strong, chemical- and weather-resistant, and able to withstand the rigors of industrial use. UV inhibitors are added - allowing DuraDeck to be used indoors and outdoors without the risk of fading or degradation. Sections are rigid - yet have some flex - allowing sections to withstand heavy moving weights without cracking or breaking.

CONVENIENT SIZE - DuraDeck mats are 4 ft. long x 8 ft. wide and are 1/2" thick at the center, with added tread patterns for greater traction and slip resistance. Up to 500 sheets can be transported on a standard tractor trailer or ocean shipping container, and sections will fit inside the bay of most pickup trucks. Pallets of DuraDeck can be double and triple stacked as needed.

A single 8-foot-wide section can accommodate pickup trucks, backhoes, ditch diggers, and other smaller vehicles. By positioning two 4 ft. x 8 ft. sections side-by-side, a 16-foot wide road, suitable for heavy truck traffic, can be created. Of course, sections can be added as needed to form 2-way roadways (3 sections = 24 ft.) or large work and activity pads of unlimited size.

HANDLES HEAVY WEIGHTS - Depending on the ground surface and the density of the sub-surface, DuraDeck can be used to provide access for vehicles and equipment weighing up to 80 tons.

OUTPERFORMS WOOD AND OTHER SYSTEMS - Unlike plywood, DuraDeck will not warp, rot, crack, or delaminate, and there are no unsafe chemicals, such as arsenic which exists in some treated plywood. The panels meet all local requirements limiting the use of arsenic-treated plywood on construction sites and for roadway and access use. By using DuraDeck panels in place of wood, you are not only saving money, you are also helping to prevent contamination to the environment and your job site.

MADE OF RECYCLED PLASTIC - All DuraDeck products are manufactured using primarily recycled plastic material and as such do their part in helping the environment. DuraDeck mats qualify for preference under Federal, State, and Local Government purchasing guidelines - offering preference to projects with recycled content - as their recycled content exceeds 90%.

CONVENIENT CONNECTION SYSTEM - Each mat has connection holes at each corner and in the middle of the 8 ft. side, allowing mats to be connected side-by-side or at 90 degree angles to each other. DuraDeck sheets may be connected using 2-way or 4-way metal connectors or their easy-to-use plastic connectors. DuraLink metal connectors are capable of handling heavy vehicle traffic, as well as the significant torque from forklift turns and quick stops. The lighter weight PlastiLink connectors offer easier installation and may be used for lighter weight applications. Of course, DuraDeck may be used without any connectors on most temporary projects and may be placed adjacent to one another for quick installation.

AVAILABLE IN DIFFERENT COLORS - Depending on the application, DuraDeck may be ordered in both black or white (custom colors are available for larger orders). For grass protection in warm weather environments, white mats will prevent the browning and overheating of the grass below.
